A very realistically modelled pair of white porcelain elephants on ormolu bases. Maison Samson, Paris, circa 1900. A similar, although slightly larger, example in: Mallett, 2010 catalogue, pag.26 : Visite Privee, Hotels Particuliers de Paris, pag. 91 : The collection of the late Duchess of Devonshire. An identical pair sold £11.250 at Christies on July 15th 2020. Another identical pair sold for the same price at Christies on sept 17Th 2013.
