Rare English Georgian satinwood cutlery box with painted decoration. This style was developed by T. Sheraton and very rare to find in a cutlery box which is usually mahogany. Sheraton is a neoclassical style characterized by delicate straight lines, light construction, contrasting veneers, and neoclassical motifs and ornamentation. It is named for English designer Thomas Sheraton who published his designs in “The Cabinet Makers and Upholsterers Drawing Book” in 1791. It was the most reproduced style in the United States during the Federal period.

A late 18th century English lead planter. Solid lead in quatrefoil shape with panels showing lion heads and standing on four lion paws. Extremely solid and heavy item to withstand the whims of English weather. The planter has a lovely powder grey patina and is a rare survivor.

A small Georgian oil portrait of a young lady ca. 1730. A very charming small scale oil painting of very unusual size. This is not a miniature but a proper oil painting on canvas in a hand carved and gild frame of the same period. The sitter is very sympathetically represented adorned with flowers and jewellery.

A large Chinese Wanli period (1563-1620) blue and white porcelain bowl in perfect condition depicting several panels with flowers and tree branches and a scene with birds in the center. The bowl has been later highlighted, possibly in Holland with gilt and iron red decoration through a process called “clobbering”, which is here explained.
