A large pair of Japanese Imari vases, dating around 1700. Decorated with Typical Imari palette: underglaze blue on white background. Overglaze with four large quatrefoil panels containing finely painted shishi lions and blossoming branches and flowers in gold and iron red. A pair of portraits by Swiss artist Johan Huber, dated 1711 oil on convex copper; held in the original foliate carved giltwood frames. Size in frames 21.5 inches high (55 cm). Provenance: Steiger family, Tschugg Manor, Bern, Switzerland until 1875.

A large late 17th century Japanese octagonal Arita blue and white vase, circa 1680. The vase is of octagonal baluster form, boldly painted with rocks and large blossoming foliage composed around the entire body within stylized borders. This vase has exceptionally good dark and light blue glaze saturation as well as virtuoso decoration stylistically typical of this period. As the vase has a hairline crack and a reduced neck we have made it into a fabulous lamp. It has a handmade wood octagonal gilded lid and a hand-turned gilded base.

Large Lamped Late 17th Century Japanese Octagonal Blue and White Arita Vase

A Large Japanese Arita Blue and White unfinished vase, dating around 1690. Decorated in underglaze blue on white background with large geometric panels and ribbons on a peonies and flowers background. This vase as been left undecorated for a later secondary coloured glaze or lacquer application. A similar example, supplied by Horneman Antiques in 2016, in the British Museum, London, Inv. Nr. 2016, 3001.1

Late 17th Century Japanese Arita Porcelain Vase as a Lamp

A medium sized Chinese Transitional Wucai porcelain Vase dating, circa 1640 and transformed into a lamp with a hand-carved giltwood base. The vase with an old restoration on the back where two pieces have been re attached to the body through the use of rivets/staples (typical 19th century way of restoring).
