Certainly the inspiration for this type of porcelain is the Chinese ‘Mazarin’ solid blue glaze but this example is a very Japanese interpretation.

A highly decorative pair of mid-18th century Portuguese Brazilian rosewood high back chairs with beautiful scrolling pediment at the top with carved shell in the middle and on cabriole legs terminating in pad feet and ondulated stretchers. Finely carved shell on the skirt of the chair.Recently recaned so the seats are in a stable condition and safe to use. Custom-made squab cushions included (not shown in the pictures).
