A large Chinese blue and white kraak charger, Wanli (1573-1619), decorated in the centre with a pair of black birds and flowers issuing from rockwork. The panelled border decorated with flowers and precious objects. Good solid blue glaze. An excellent decorative piece of early Chinese porcelain.

Rare pair of late 17th Century Japanese powder blue globular vases of small proportions. This kind of decoration (solid blue background with overglaze gold decoration) is typical of Chinese porcelain. Japanese potters attempted to replicate it but with less success hence the rarity of this colour scheme. We only had one vase such as these before. An interesting fact: a leaf of one of the two vases has been painted in green enamel and it was most probably a mistake during the decorating process. Lamped for UK use with a handmade giltwood base and solid brass fitting; can be easily converted to EU or US Lampshades are not included Height excluding fitting: 34 cm

Very decorative pair of early 18th century brown painted wood (possibly pine) hall chairs. The usual model for this chair is in mahogany. We have not seen a pair in painted pine before. The paint is in original condition and therefore has some scuffs and minor losses. Bearing a family crest on the upper front back.

Provenance: Steiger family, Tschugg Manor, Bern, Switzerland until 1875.
