A superb and rare pair of very finely painted blue and white Dutch Delft stove tiles dating around 1730. Decorated with a pastoral landscape with naked greek goddesses resting within a Daniel Marot (1661-1752) inspired baroque cartouche panel. Retaining their original bricks in the back which makes them rather heavy.

We were happy to come across this vase as there are very few surviving examples like this due to the medium’s delicate nature. It is a Japanese Imari vase that, instead of being overglaze painted with the popular imari 5 colours palette, has been covered with beautiful layers of lacquer depicting peonies. Sadly it is not in very good conditions, pieces missing and circa 25% of the total area has been restored very badly. We offer it as a decoration/collector piece for those able to understand its rarity and charm.

A large Chinese Wanli period (1563-1620) blue and white porcelain bowl in perfect condition depicting several panels with flowers and tree branches and a scene with birds in the center. The bowl has been later highlighted, possibly in Holland with gilt and iron red decoration through a process called “clobbering”, which is here explained.

A pair of portraits by Swiss artist Johan Huber, dated 1711 oil on convex copper; held in the original foliate carved giltwood frames. Size in frames 21.5 inches high (55 cm). Provenance: Steiger family, Tschugg Manor, Bern, Switzerland until 1875.
