Several comparable example at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Holland. Lamped and mounted on a hand carved and hand gilt wooden base, fitted with antiqued brass plate with UK fittings, brown silk flex and black UK plug. Can be converted for EU or US use. A very rare and unusual Japanese blue glazed Arita vase with gilt chinoiserie decoration dating from circa 1700. The dark blue glaze is very unusual in Japanese porcelain and made most certainly for the European market at the end of the 17th century or early 18th century. The vase has been decorated with exquisite gilded chinoiserie decoration. Certainly the inspiration for this type of porcelain is the Chinese ‘Mazarin’ solid blue glaze but this example is a very Japanese interpretation.

A finely carved gilt wood and gesso console table dating from the last quarter of the seventeenth century. The curvature of the legs, paw feet and stretcher surmounted by an urn are suggestive of an Italian origin. Table top covered in antique red velvet, it may have once had a stone top. Overall a highly decorative and impressive quality piece.

Impressive Continental 17th Century Gilt wood Console Table

A very large Japanese Imari vase of exceptional decorative quality dating from, circa 1700-1720. Each of the three main panels on the body of the vase depicts different varieties of flowers such as peonies, carnations and chrysanthemums. The lid is a European copy of the original made to replace the, presumably, broken, original. We think it was made in the early 19th century and we assume that the vase must have had a prestigious provenance considering the cost of making a lid to match in such quality. The vase stands on an associated 20th century hand-carved and gilt wooden base.
