An extremely rare Arita vase, late 17th century, lamped. The ovoid vase is decorated in underglaze blue with a large Ho-Ho bird or Phoenix surrounded with stylized flowers. A similar pair of vases was recently exhibited in ‘The Art of Japan’ at Christie’s King Street, London on the 8th of December 2016. The neck of this vase has been reduced and consequently we have had this converted into a lamp with a hand-carved giltwood top and base.

A spectacular large Chinese porcelain powder blue temple jar and cover, early 18th century, Kangxi. Beautiful soft blue glaze. Minor damage: Lid has a small restored edge chip. The vase also has a restored section on the rim of about 2 inches and there is a circular crack on the shoulder of about 2.5 inches. There is a slight tonal differential between the lid and the vase. Overall in good and decorative condition.

Very decorative pair of early 18th century brown painted wood (possibly pine) hall chairs. The usual model for this chair is in mahogany. We have not seen a pair in painted pine before. The paint is in original condition and therefore has some scuffs and minor losses. Bearing a family crest on the upper front back.

A pair of large Chinese Export reverse glass portrait pictures, one panel depicting a woman of rank, the other her husband, probably a dignitary in their original frames. Their scale is unusually large and are exceptionally fine. The pictures retain their original moulded frames together with their pierced bronze hanging plates. However they are in ‘country house’ condition. The delicate technique of painting behind hand moulded glass panels renders them vulnerable to the hand of time. There are many areas where the paint has lifted from the glass.

A charming pair of early 18th century Dutch Delft blue and white vases, Lamped. The bulbous long neck vases finely painted in underglaze blue. Depicting Chinese courtiers in a rocky landscape. Holland, circa 1720. Several comparable example at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Holland. Lamped and mounted on a hand carved and hand gilt wooden base, fitted with antiqued brass plate with UK fittings, brown silk flex and black UK plug. Can be converted for EU or US use. Lampshades are not included.
