A significant piece, finely painted and of unusually large size. A similar example in the collection of Augustus the Strong in Dresden.

Rare, Bold Late 17th Century French Faience Bowl, Nevers, circa 1670

The paintwork is extremely elaborate and well detailed, in particular: The figure's attire, the fringes of the parasol, the horsetail, the abstractly rendered landscape vanishing into clouds, the flame like border decoration and scale make this one of the best examples we have ever had. It was converted into a wine container in the 18th Century and we purposely left the lead tap connector as it is part of its history.
