Early 18th Century Japanese Octagonal Imari Vase
A thickly potted and massive early 18th century Japanese Imari vase, circa 1700 showing a plethora of Kara Shi Shi Dogs, ducks and birds of paradise. All set in a landscape of reeds and foliage. Decorated throughout with enormous swirling abstract patterns. The overall palette is softly muted blue, red and green glazes with gilded highlights.
