An unusual late 17th century Dutch Delft blue and white vase, Lamped. The tubular vase featuring an extremely fine painted decoration in underglaze blue. Depicting Chinese courtiers wearing elaborate robes in a landscape featuring different varieties of trees and plants. Lamped and mounted on a hand carved and hand gilt wooden base, fitted with antiqued brass plate with UK fittings, brown silk flex and black UK plug. Can be converted for EU or US use. Lampshades are not included.

A very realistically modelled pair of white porcelain elephants on ormolu bases. Maison Samson, Paris, circa 1900. An identical pair sold £11.250 at Christies on July 15th 2020. Another identical pair sold for the same price at Christies on sept 17Th 2013.

Portraits of Christopher Steiger (1694-1765) and Anna Catharina Steiger (1680-1729). A pair of portraits by Swiss artist Johan Huber, dated 1711 oil on convex copper; held in the original foliate carved giltwood frames. Size in frames 21.5 inches high (55 cm). Provenance: Steiger family, Tschugg Manor, Bern, Switzerland until 1875.

A Pair of Oval Portraits By Johann Huber Dated 1711

A finely carved gilt wood and gesso console table dating from the last quarter of the seventeenth century. The curvature of the legs, paw feet and stretcher surmounted by an urn are suggestive of an Italian origin. Table top covered in antique red velvet, it may have once had a stone top. Overall a highly decorative and impressive quality piece.

Impressive Continental 17th Century Gilt wood Console Table

A pair of mid 18th century North Italian (Piedmont?) rococo polychrome girandoles, circa 1740. Each carved with high relief scrolls forming a pierced canopy at the top. The whole is surmounted by a polychrome foliate scroll and further enriched with entwining branches, leaves flowers and buds. Provenance: with Mallett, London. Illustrated in Mallett " Exceptional furniture and works of art ", 2010, pp. 142-143. Illustrated in Mallett, 2012 catalogue, where they feature in the famous yellow room of Ely House, pp 152-153.

18th Century Pair of North Italian Rococo Mirrors or ‘Girandoles,’ circa 1740

The evident charm of this sitter is characteristic of the work of Sir Godfrey Kneller and his studio, most probably Edward Byng. Edward Byng (circa 1676–1753) trained as an artist and became an assistant to Godfrey Kneller, circa 1693. At the time of Kneller’s death in 1723 Byng was his chief assistant and lived with him at a house in Great Queen Street. Kneller’s will recorded that Byng had “for many years faithfully served me”, gave him a pension of £100 a year and entrusted him with seeing that Kneller’s unfinished work was completed, for which he would receive the outstanding payments.
