A very stylish North Italian chestnut wood canapé. In overall good and original condition. The back section is removable and slots in place as is the back cushion which is held in place with hand-forged hinges. Equally the side cushions are removable. This sofa has an elegant shape and is very decorative. It has been recently re-sprung and covered in yellow Lelievre damask. The wood has a lovely mellow dark patina typical of chestnut. Although the sofa is in very good condition it’s vintage would suggest a more decorative role rather than a practical one.

A Continental Japanned trunk. Early 18th century. Decorated in the Japanese taste with elaborate lock escutcheon and solid brass handles. On ebonized bun feet. The large central front panel showing an Oriental landscape, decorated sides and the back painted with flowers. The top of the chest has been covered in green Morocco leather in the 19th century. The interior of the trunk is lacquered black with some gold speckling.

A highly decorative brass round mirror. The upper part decorated with a garland of oak leaves bearing acorns. The whole composition surmounted by a large crystal eagle with raised wings. From The Ritz Hotel in London, bearing an inventory label on the back. Heavy quality mirror with fantastic provenance dating around 1950s-1960s.

A George II mahogany open armchair with lovely scrolling arms on cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Scrolling top rail above an vase fretwork back splat. The armchair has a drop-in seat newly upholstered in blue Claremont damask. This arm chair would make a wonderful desk chair and is in good country house condition. One minor repair to the left scroll terminal at end of the arm rest (see photo) and both arms have been re-pegged at the side rail for extra stability at some point. Good overall colour and patina and not re-polished in order to retain its original condition.
