A Regency black painted plaster standing female figure light by Humphrey Hopper depicted in classical dress, holding aloft a candle light with etched floral glass shade, on a circular base. The shade replaced. Signed and Dated on the back of the base “N 18-1809” and “H”. Humphrey Hopper (1765-1844) may have started his career as a mason. He completed his education as a mature man of 36 by enrolling in the Royal Academy Schools in February 1801 to study sculpture. He was a successful student, winning a silver medal in December 1802.

Delightful and rare set of two Italian gilded wrought iron (possibly piedmont) wall lights featuring the original gilding. They consist of four arms (17th century) which have been later (19th-20th century) mounted on a leaves shaped base for wall hanging .Originally they could have been part of a chandelier or been hanging singularly. The colour of the gold and the patina is very warm and mellow and really show the age. Due to their delicate structure, objects of this kind are difficult to find, especially in a pair and with the gilding untouched
